Multiple groups gathered to show their Halloween Spirit at the Zombie Ball on Oct. 26. The United States Institute for Theater Technology (USITT) hosted their first Zombie Ball in the Happy State Bank Theater.

Many students gathered to celebrate the after-life with fellow zombies and creatures from the beyond.

“We wanted to do something for the Halloween season involving a costume contest. It is also a good way to raise money for theater productions,” Megan Hjerpe, account manager for the West Texas A&M Theater Department, said.

Even though the theme was zombies, many in the crowd dressed up as ninjas and concluded that if they had to choose between zombies or ninjas, they would choose ninjas.

“I would chose to be a ninja over a zombie because they are smart,” Madison Heston, a freshman Theatre – Technical Design major, said.

In fact, 18 out of 20 people there said they would choose to be a ninja.

“I would rather be a ninja because if I was dead I wouldn’t be able to enjoy the dance,” Cameron Hastings, sophomore biology major said.

Hjerpe said the USITT will also hold a workshop for local high school students on November 9. to teach technical theatre.
