Missing Class Can Do More Harm Than You Think.

Every student thinks they have a legitimate excuse to miss one day of class at some point during the semester. Or they just have one of those mornings where you wake up and question more than fifty times if you should get ready for class or earn a few extra hours of sleep.

For those who finally decide to get up and barely make it to class on time, you end up feeling pretty good that you decided to go to class.  But for those who decided they earned those extra hours and miss class, are actually doing more harm than good.

A few reasons why it is not good to miss class is that one, your professor might have an attendance policy. By missing class too much, it could do harm to your overall grade at the end of the semester. Plus, trying to come up with an excuse as to why you miss class is never a good idea to do. Trust us, professors have heard every excuse in the book. They are really hard to fool so never lie to your professor.

Also, you shouldn’t also miss class even if the lesson is just to go over the chapter you already read, it is actually less time you’ll have to study later on. Soaking in all the information through reading and hearing it again in class is a great way of making the material stick. It also takes a time to catch back up in some classes if you do miss. You might miss a huge amount of work, especially if the class only meets once or twice a week. Also, if you do miss, another downside if that you’ll have to someone who is willing to share his or her notes and spend more time catching up on what you miss than if you had first gone to class.

Missing just one day of class is not just missing out on the lesson that the professor has planned out for that day; they are also letting a portion of what they are paying for their college tuition of down the drain. This is probably one of the most harmful things you could do to yourself by missing class. Even when you miss one class you’re wasting hundreds of dollars for that 50 minute to over an hour class. It is like someone paying for a meal that they do not even eat or maybe paying a movie that they never see. College is expensive enough; you shouldn’t waste your money or your education.

Of course, there are some days where you do get sick with the flu or maybe a cold, which in that case it is good to stay in bed and take care of your health. With being sick, there are also a few other reasons that it is actually okay to miss class once such as car problems, or a death in the family or other family issues.

Bottom line is, don’t miss out on the class just because you don’t feel like going. Going to class really pays off in the long run.
