The West Texas A&M Buffaloes (1-1,0-0) traveled to Pueblo, Colorado to take on  the number 19 ranked Colorado State University of Pueblo Thunderwolves (0-2,0-0) on Saturday. The Buffs dominated the game in all three phases of the game and came away with the win 26-10.

The Buffs had a balanced offensive attack, breaking the 100 yard plateau for the first time this season led by Senior running back Devon Paye, who rushed for 100 yards. Junior Quarterback Ethan Brinkley also played consistent, tallying 196 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions.

The WT defense led the way for the Buffs, coming up with three turnovers, and returning an interception for a touchdown. The Buffs held the opposing offense under 100 yards passing for the second week in a row.  Special Teams was huge as well, blocking a punt and a field goal attempt.

WT never trailed in the game and the win was the 499th in WT history. The game also marked head coach Mike Nesbitt’s 20th win as head coach of the Buffaloes.

“I thought on both sides of the ball and special teams we played pretty well tonight,” Nesbitt said. “There are some things we need to clean up for sure, but overall we played well tonight.”

The Buffs wrap up their three game road trip next week with a trip to Odessa to take on UT Permian Basin to begin Lone Star Conference Play. The game will be the first LSC game for UT Permian Basin.
