Buffs Fall on Rain Soaked Senior Night

The rain washed into Kimbrough Memorial Stadium and shut down the WT offense against Angelo State. The Buffs dropped the game 28-6, on a night where they just couldn’t get anything going on offense.

The Buffs were held to a season low 136 yards of total offense. They tallied 69 yards rushing and 68 yards passing.  WT was also held to a season low eight first downs.  Junior Pome’e caught the game’s only touchdown at the end of the fourth quarter.

It was a bitter sweet for the 10 senior’s who took the field for the final time at Kimbrough.  Those seniors were Rashawn DuPree, Davontae Merriweather, Chris Gilchrist, Devon Paye, Tevin Creeks, Will Toliver, Conner Hollabaugh, Alex Olson, Austin Carson, and Kennedy Kodua.

The defense kept the Buffs in the game as long as they could, holding Angelo to a 14-0 halftime lead. They held the Rams to 244 total yards in the game, but they spent too much time on the field, 42 minutes out of 60, and eventually got worn out.

The Buffs (5-5,4-4) will close out the season next week in Silver City, New Mexico when they take on Western New Mexico (3-7, 3-5).
