Attending a new school can be difficult for people no matter their age. Transferring from elementary to middle school is scary. Going from there to high school is life-changing and finally attending college for your first semester can be all of those things and more. This is where your life begins to take direction. This is what defines what type of career you will have and who you will be in the future. However, college isn’t just the place where your future is determined, but its also an opportunity to do things you never expected you would do.

Getting involved in some type of organization is always a good choice. Not only does getting involved give you a chance to meet people with the same interests as you, but it also provides you with a sense of belonging, especially if you are first stepping onto the college scene.

College also provides the opportunity for students to study in a whole new environment. Getting involved in organizations often gives students a chance to travel to new places with other members of their group. Also, study abroad provides the opportunity for students to study what they are passionate about in a whole new environment. Experiences like these can change a person’s view on many aspects of college and life in general.

Although starting college can be one of the most overwhelming things a human can do in their life, it can also provide a person with a whole new outlook on life and opportunities to get involved with both the university and the community. Incoming freshmen should jump in head-first and enjoy all that college has to offer. Once it’s all over they will be glad they didn’t miss out on any opportunities.
