The Holiday Spirit

The Prairie Editorial Staff

If you were to walk up into FAC 268 you would be able to see that the holiday spirit is alive and well, as evidenced by our Christmas tree.

Some have argued that it is too early to erect such a glorious masterpiece, but to those naysayers I would like to ask why?

While the tree itself is a representation of Christmas, it is so much more than that.  The essence of the holiday spirit comes with this physical manifestation, but for many, decorating for the holidays is not about reverence of the season, but instead it is about a change in attitude of the populace.  Everyone seems a bit more happy, a tad more thankful and smidgen more optimistic (And we could all use a little more optimism right now).

Each and everyone one us have differing reasons as to why this season is important.  To some it is based in religion, for others it is a time to visit with friends and family, many of whom are not around a majority of the year.

So as you carve into your Thanksgiving turkey, ham or tofu this season, remember that the holiday spirit isn’t about decorations, it is about the way we treat each other, it is a time for giving, it is a time to be the person we should be all year around.

We here at the Prairie want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and safe travels to each and every one you on the roads this week!
