WTAMU performs opera classics

Next Saturday and Sunday WTAMU community will have the unique opportunity to see famous pieces such as La Boheme and Barber of Seville performed by WT music majors.

This is an annual student oriented musical event. At least 20 students will be performing there. The majority of students are music or music performance major. They were selected by an audition held on the first week of school. They have been practicing for this event for seven weeks. Erwin Kuehne, a senior student said “joining this program gives me a great education, especially as a performer.”

Students will perform seven different opera scenes, including early, middle, and modern periods. “It gets to show different styles of opera,” said Shayla Fezette, opera graduate assistant.

There will be free admission to the Opera Workshop, and it is open for everyone. The performance will be held at the Recital Hall in the Fine Arts Complex on Oct. 23 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 24 at 4:30 p.m. It is a great opportunity to see seven different kinds of operas in one night.
