Music Therapy Awareness Week First time at WT

The Music Therapy Club will be hosting its first Music Therapy Awareness Week starting April 9 and will be concluding April 11.

“The awareness week is a week of activities that will help get the word out to other people about music therapy,” Music Therapy major Erin Feuerstein said.

Feuerstein said that the main goal is to get the word out to the students on what music therapy is and how it can help people.

“This is our first year so we’re starting kind of small to see how the week goes,” she said. “And to see how we can grow in the future.”Feuerstein also said that at the end of the Music Therapy week, there will be an open mic night at Palace Coffee Company.

“I feel excited to teach the public about music therapy,” Danielle Medina, a freshman Music Therapy major, said. “I hope to be able to help WT become aware of the power of music.”

Medina recommended WT students to go to the “Drum Circles,” an event which will consist of students playing different types of drums.

“It’s going be sound really neat with the fountain in the background,” she said.

The drum circles will take place on April 10 at 3:30 p.m. at the Agriculture and Natural Sciences building, April 11 at 1:30 p.m. and April 12 at 3:30 p.m at the Buffalo Fountain.
