Buffs Fall in Homecoming Matchup

The West Texas A&M Buffaloes (3-3, 2-2) fell to the visiting Texas A&M Kingsville Javelinas (3-3, 1-3) 51-34, as the Javelinas snapped a 22 Lonestar Conference losing streak.

The Buffs trailed early 23-0 due to untimely turnovers, and 30-7 at the half. The Buffs outscored Kingsville 34-31 from the second quarter on, but the damage had already been done.

To add insult to injury, starting quarterback Ethan Brinkley left the game in the third quarter due to an injury.  Sophomore Ben Arbuckle entered the game and played very well after shaking off the jitters.  He went 18-32 for 354 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions.

Senior Junior Pomee contributed for a game high 115 yards receiving with two touchdowns and senior Chris Gilchrist had 108 yards with a touchdown. Senior running back Devon Paye rushed for 86 yards on 16 carries and caught two passes for 95 yards with a touchdown.

The Buffs will next travel to Goodwell ,Oklahoma to take on Oklahoma Panhandle State (1-5, 0-4) on Saturday, October 15 for a 1:00 kickoff.
