Tim Rivera, a junior Music Education major from Midland, Texas said he has to fill out verification forms every semester because they don’t believe that he needs financial aid.

The time it takes for financial aid to go through also varies between students.

“It’s nerve-racking because it takes two weeks for my financial aid to be approved and another two weeks for it to go through to my account. I have to borrow books from friends so I can stay ahead in my classes, since they only give me enough financial aid to cover my tuition,” Rivera said.

Another difficulty that students encounter with financial aid is the issue of how much money their parents or guardians make. A family could earn a salary that is too high to be eligible for financial aid, but the issues of debt, bills, and other children are not taken into account.

“My parents make just over the salary limit for financial aid, which is why I have issues with it every semester,” Rivera said.

Another student, Andrew Alexander, a junior Mass Communications/Broadcasting and Electronic Media major from Gladewater, Texas has had issues with the organization of financial aid this semester.
