The CORE Office hosted a guy’s night and girl’s night on Nov. 22 at 8 p.m. The guy’s night was held at the Virgil Henson game room, and the girl’s night was held at the Cousin’s ballroom.

“The goal of both girl’s and guy’s night is to create a night where both girls and guys can have a night to relax and unwind before the stress of finals set in,” Caitlin Robb, CORE Consultant, said.

The guy’s night consisted of games such as ping-pong, pool, foosball, air hockey and darts on a stylish dartboard cabinet. They also provided snacks. The girl’s night included snacks, painting nails, chalkboard frame making, Wii Just Dance and a photo booth.

Brianna Moore, CORE Consultant, also spoke of some other things that took place at both events.

She said for the guys, there are probably going to be small tournaments that they can participate in. She said a chocolate fountain, making ribbon hair bows and sock tube heating pads and decorating cardboard letters would be at the girl’s event. Mary Kay consultants will also be there.

“I think it would be really cool to hang out with girls from all over campus and be crafty. Plus, there’s going to be a chocolate fountain, so that’s kind of cool,” Madison Parkey, Senior Elementary Education major, said.

According to Moore, there will be more than just food and fun. Family Support Services is going to be presenting at both the girl’s and guy’s night. The presentation for the men will include bystander intervention, and educating men on the best decisions they can make. The women will be learning about body image, boosting your self-esteem and self-image.

“This is what we are supposed to do. We are supposed to be educating students as well,” Moore said. “It is really good information that they need to hear.”
