A Brief Ode to XCOM 2
February 24, 2016
Oh joy, oh rapture!
XCOM 2 has me captured,
By it’s wonderful explanation,
As to how you lost in XCOM:EU/EW even with strategy games one’s vocation,
The sounds of shredding Chryssalids and more,
Fill my ears with a euphony of joy,
The graphical improvement for everything alien or not,
Makes the you truly feel for the struggle even when fighting a bot,
The gameplay is ever so spectacular,
Especially given any ability’s nomenclature or vernacular,
The customization is quite the colossal step,
Compared to EU/EW or any sit-rep,
The classes from before are greater evermore,
The Sharpshooter and his abilities I ever so adore,
The Ranger mainly brings the danger,
Probably making the aliens want to crawl back into each of their Sci-Fi mangers,
The Grenadier brings the boom,
In many explosive ways to show the aliens their doom,
The Specialist now has a little Gremlin,
Making the aliens not able to just toss XCOM units into the trash bin,
The brand new Psi-Op is a force to behold,
He might not be the best with a gun but he has a lance that will make any foe nulled,
All the armors are great,
Giving your soldiers something for ADVENT to hate,
Ranging for grappling hooks to heavy weapons,
Traveling through solid objects and many things that make it easier to be The End,
Concealment is a great remedy for the alien’s sin,
And a great way to give your foes a taste of their own medicine,
All the enemies will cause a sign of concern,
Until you get so high level you wipe most of them in one turn,
Unfortunately the game isn’t perfect,
Their are one or two bugs that cause some sort of effect,
If you take too long to move in concealment,
You will be followed by nearby enemies as treatment,
RNG is neither enemy or friend,
And unlike Grey Fox it will not be with you until the end,
As the saying goes “That’s XCOM for you.”,
You will miss something that was even 80% chance to hit out of the blue,
The game is still quite the overhaul,
And is even more fun than smashing a Chryssalid with a maul,
The game comes with high recommendation,
And only with a splash of trepidation.
