After waiting a day to play their Lone Star Conference opener against UT Permian Basin (2-1,0-1), due to severe weather, the WT Buffaloes (2-1,1-0) took the field on Sunday and didn’t miss a beat winning the game 48-14. UT Permian Basin was playing their third game as a football program.

The Buffs were on the road in Odessa and the offense came out flying on all cylinders. Junior quarterback Ethan Brinkley had a season high 356 yards with two touchdowns. The Buffs were able to get their running game going as well with another 100 yard day on the ground.

The Buffalo defense came up big forcing three turnovers and only allowing 262 total yards of total offense. They also forced four sacks. Special teams played another big role when sophomore  PJ Leonce returned a punt for 69 yards for a touchdown to put the Buffs up 41-7.

The Buffaloes have their home opener this Saturday when they take on Tarleton (1-2,1-0) at 6:00 at Kimbrough Memorial Stadium.
