AMARILLO – The leadership and board of Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch has agreed to provide an immediate, temporary location for operation of the Family Support Services of Amarillo Health and Wellness Division. FSS was displaced by a fire at its downtown offices the morning of Jan. 19.

Boys Ranch President & CEO Dan Adams said he wanted to move quickly following news of the fire, offering Jim Womack, his counterpart at FSS, use of an unoccupied Boys Ranch building located at 601 S.W. 10th Ave. This location previously housed a community-engagement center operated by Boys Ranch.

“Family Support Services is such a vital organization for our area,” said Dan Adams, president and CEO of Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch. “It serves so many families and veterans and we understand how crucial it is that they get back up and operating as soon as possible. At this difficult time, we want to help them however we can.”

Adams noted that the space would be made available to FSS for however long it is needed as the organization recovers from this disaster.

The two organizations have like-minded missions in that they both provide excellent services to families and individuals.

Founded in Amarillo in 1908, Family Support Services helps more than 25,000 people each year live better lives — survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault; veterans and their families who struggle with issues such as PTSD, grief, unemployment and homelessness; persons in need of counseling to deal with life’s obstacles; children who have suffered from child abuse or are at risk of child abuse; families who are at risk of falling apart.

Likewise, founded in 1939, Boys Ranch has helped hurting children and their families through its therapeutic, Christ-centered residential living program. To date, more than 12,000 people have benefitted from Boys Ranch’s services.
