The engineering and computer science building located on the south end of campus is a newly-renovated state-of-the-art building that has been open to students since the spring of 2012. The project cost was estimated at $8 million to abate and renovate. The two-story building has a lecture hall, smart classrooms, computer labs, and faculty offices.

However, the second floor is yet to be built.

“We still want to do another renovation of the engineering building over here on the south side of campus,” Gary Barnes, Vice President of Business and Finance, said. “The first floor is all renovated for the engineering program. The second floor is vacant and we hope to fix that in the near future, but that’s all we’re planning to complete.”

Some students are anxious for the renovation.

“By the time they finish renovating the second floor, I will have graduated,” Mario Marin, a junior Engineer major, said. “But I think it’s great that they’ll fix it sooner or later for the next future WT students.”

Yet, others think the campus should adjust the reconstruction.

“If it affects students’ educational lives, they need to accommodate the renovations as it relates to the learning environment, speeding up or slowing down the process,” Cameron Anderson, a junior English major, said.
