West Texas A&M University (WT) will be celebrating Homecoming Sept. 26 – Oct. 4, 2025. This year will mark the 115th anniversary of the school’s establishment.
Homecoming week will be filled with numerous activities for the entire Buff community to participate in. “Gather with us to enjoy special events, look back on fond memories, and reunite with those special Buffs in your life,” said the WT Homecoming page.
Though the schedule has several events planned, here are a few highlights to consider attending.
The Canyon Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a “Tailgate Crawl” at 5 p.m., Friday, Oct. 3, on 2503 4th Ave. “Enjoy great tailgate food on the Canyon Square, along with your favorite merchants, live music from Old Dog Tray, cornhole, yard games, a cake walk, and more,” said the WT Homecoming page.
Later, on Oct. 3, the Student Government Association will be hosting its 47th annual Pigskin Revue Celebration. “Experience electrifying live performances and awesome giveaways throughout the night. Honor the announcement of the WT Homecoming Court of 2025, ending with the lighting of the Eternal Flame,” said the WT Homecoming page. The event will be held from 6:30 – 9 p.m. at the White Buffalo at Bain-Schaeffer Buffalo Stadium.
On Saturday, Oct. 4, the Department of Communication will be hosting a meal and activity for current communication students and alumni. “Saddle up for a HomeCOMMing Brunch featuring western-style bites and cocktails. Celebrate our Hall of Fame inductee, then test your grit in interactive challenges with a Communication and Media twist,” said the WT Homecoming page. The event will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in the foyer of the Sybil B. Harrington Fine Arts Complex. The event is free to attendees.
Immediately after brunch, the WT Division of Student Affairs & Organizations will be putting on its annual Homecoming parade at 1 p.m. “Come enjoy the floats, cars, livestock, bands, and more at the annual Homecoming parade! Bring your lawn chair and line the streets of Russell Long Blvd. to enjoy the ‘Wild West Texas’ parade,” said the WT Homecoming page.
Homecoming celebrations will wrap up with a football game on Saturday evening, Oct. 4. “Top off the Homecoming weekend by cheering the Buffs to a victory against Sul Ross State University,” said the WT Homecoming page. The game will start at 7 p.m. in the Bain-Schaeffer Buffalo Stadium. The game is free for students with their Buff Gold Card. For those who are not students, tickets can be purchased here. Tickets sold at the gate will be charged a fee of $3.
