What started out as an 80s cover band started their careers playing rock ‘n roll music, but has completely changed over the last couple of years to embody their own unique sound.
No Dry County (NDC) started their music career in 2009 in Lubbock, Texas by former band member Monte Ebeling and has been catching people’s eye with their mysterious sound ever since. With a few band members coming and going, NDC started to take shape and went from playing 80s cover songs to putting their own twist on Americana folk and alternative country.
“There’s really no template for our music. The one thing we try to do is be truthful to whatever situation we’re writing towards,” Trent Langford, lead singer, said.
The band, now comprised of singer/songwriter Trent Langford, bassist Dub Wood, drummer Matt Newson, guitarist Jonathan Dunlap and guitarist/auxiliary Bristen Phillips, has been playing together for the last two years.
With two albums and a few years of playing in the Texas scene under their belt, starting a new tour is nothing new for the band. To help get ready to release their newest album, The Night Before, which debuts on March 10, the band will be going on a regional tour to help support their new album.
“The Night Before became somewhat of a snapshot of the experiences we’ve had over the last couple years,” Langford said. “Most of it was written or at least began in the van during our last national tour in 2012. I imagine fans are most excited to simply have 12 new songs since it’s been over two years since our last release.”
To start the tour, NDC will play at Amarillo’s GoldenLight Café on March 13. Their tour will cover areas in Texas, New Mexico, Colorado and Oklahoma and will end on June 6 with their last performance in Farwell, Texas.
“Whenever the band called and said they would like to play here, we said yes right away,” Angela Corpening, manager of the GoldenLight, said. “We are really looking forward to their performance. We also know that our guests and their fans will love them as well.”
Amarillo fans and guests at the GoldenLight are already anxious and very excited about the bands first performance of their tour happening next Friday night.
“A friend of mine introduced me to NDC a while back ago and I’ve always been interested in their music since,” Zack Peters, NDC fan, said. “I’m really looking forward to hearing their new songs.
and it’s also a plus that I’ll be watching them perform next Friday night.”
“The Night Before” is just one of the many accomplishments that this band will put out, and after their tour is over they have hopes to get right back into writing more music and hopefully one day joining major festivals and playing in front of larger audiences.
“Hopefully we’ll be getting back into the studio soon, which would mean this album was somewhat of a success,” Langford said. “We really enjoy taking our music to people all over the country, so we’d like to do that for as long as possible. The people we meet in our travels, our best friends are other musicians, club owners, sound engineers and music lovers; the people we meet in our travels make everything worth it. It’s really a tight-knit community and one that’s been a blessing to be part of especially in Texas.”
