‘I Am WT’ Podcast Introduces New Hosts for 2023-24
CANYON, Texas — The latest episode of the University’s student-run podcast features a changing of the guard and a look back over its first season.
Inaugural “I Am WT” hosts Brae Foust and Tearanee’ Lockhart introduce the students who’ll replace them behind the microphones in the final episode of the first season, recorded before May commencement and available July 21 on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and SoundCloud, as well as at wtamu.edu/IAmWTPodcast.
Myka Bailey, a junior PR/advertising/applied communication major from Abernathy, and Thomas Rodriguez, a junior digital media and communication major from Katy, will spearhead the show beginning in the fall semester.
The new hosts said they are eager to learn more about WT.
“We kind of take it for granted a lot of times and don’t really know who is behind the scenes,” Bailey said.
“This is a whole new experience,” Rodriguez said. “I’m excited to see who we (interview).”
Lockhart, an advertising/PR graduate from Amarillo, and Foust, an Amarillo native pursuing his second bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism, also took a look back at favorite moments over the first season, all of which is available to hear now.
The “I Am WT” podcast embodies WT’s commitment to people first, one of the key principles of the University’s long-range plan, WT 125: From the Panhandle to the World.
That plan is fueled by the historic, $125 million One West comprehensive fundraising campaign. To date, the campaign — which publicly launched in September 2021— has raised more than $125 million and will continue through 2025.
In the biweekly episodes of “I Am WT,” student hosts interview WT faculty, staff, students and alumni about what WT means to them.
Audiences hear stories about how attending or working at WT changed the lives of the guests, and how they’re making a difference in their community.
