The Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum is giving away a trip for two to Paris, France. The PPHM has come up with a way to get more people involved in museum events, while including an added bonus of having the chance to win a four night stay in a four- star Parisian hotel. The trip will also include complimentary transportation all around the city of Paris and free admission to 60 museums. In order to participate, you have to be 21 years or older to get your PPHM passport.
Once the visitor has their passport, he/she can accumulate stamps by attending up to five museum events.
After collecting the stamps each person must then turn their passport in to the PPHM personnel, it will then be entered into the drawing for the trip to Paris.
Andrea Porter, the communications coordinator of the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum, said the trip has already caused excitement among visitors.
“This sort of thing has never been done before by any museum we can find, so it had some shock value, but then there’s a new excitement coming from the visitors,” Porter said. “We have only had 2 events since this launch
and the trip is what everyone is talking about.”
There are several museum events taking place over the next few months.
The drawing for the trip will be held on June 6, 2011. Once the winner is announced, he or she will then have the chance to decide when he or she wishes to take the trip.
Michael R. Grauer, associate director for Curatorial Affairs/Curator of Art, said he thinks Paris is a good place for the trip because of the art museum there.
“I think that this is a great opportunity to support PPHM and to possibly win a trip to one of the great cities in the world, which holds the greatest art museum in the world,” Grauer said.
