Campus Ministries Keep Student’s Stomachs and Wallets Full

College students are typically known for lacking a couple of things: home cooked meals and money. Some of the student ministries on WT’s campus are helping to change this stereotype. Every Tuesday through Thursday, students can dine at the Wesley Foundation and the Baptist Student Ministry. The Wesley, a Methodist sponsored organization, hosts its free lunch at noon on Tuesdays, and the BSM holds its lunch outreach on Wednesdays at noon. The BSM also offers a free lunch program aimed specifically for international students on Thursdays at noon.

“College students are our future, and we want to feed our future,” Sherrie Burns, head of College Care for St. Paul United Methodist Women, said.

These organizations use these lunch programs as a way to serve the university’s students and offer them a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.

“There’s a lot of people who come around, and they just love to come eat and fellowship with each other,” said Jonathan Harder, a WT student. “It’s really effective.”

The Baptist Student Ministry is located across the street from the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum, and the Wesley Foundation is near Cousins Halls.
