Submit an Opinion Essay

An op-ed is an opinion essay written by a staff member or outside contributor. Op-eds do not represent the views of The Prairie News.

  1. Lead with a statement on the situation and take a clear stance. Make your point clear quickly and avoid getting sidetracked.
  2. Avoid jargon.
  3. Check your facts and back them up by providing sources.
  4. Don’t overload your reader with statistics.
  5. Get your point across with shorter sentences that explain complex thoughts.

We encourage op-eds that contribute to timely conversations and provide a fresh perspective. Occasionally, we will suggest edits for clarity, the logic of argumentation, and organization.

All op-ed submissions should be sent to [email protected].
