Paid internship positions for The Prairie News are available through Handshake. Here is a list of the roles available for the spring 2024 semester:

Multimedia Journalist, Sports (Job #8062765): The multimedia journalists for The Prairie News, the student digital newspaper at WTAMU, are responsible for reporting, shooting, and editing news stories, finding story ideas, developing contacts, and publishing news and community stories regularly. Specifically, this position will focus on coverage of athletic events on campus, providing analysis and commentary on games, coaches, and players. Occasionally, multimedia journalists will be asked to lead a training or workshop for staff or high school students.

Multimedia Journalist, Campus News (Job #8062667): The multimedia journalists for The Prairie News, the student digital newspaper at WTAMU, are responsible for reporting, shooting, and editing news stories, finding story ideas, developing contacts, and publishing news and community stories regularly. Specifically, this position will focus on campus news with a focus on student engagement (e.g., student organizations, events, extracurriculars, etc.). Occasionally, multimedia journalists will be asked to lead a training or workshop for staff or high school students.

Multimedia Journalist, Entertainment (Job #8062702): The multimedia journalists for The Prairie News, the student digital newspaper at WTAMU, are responsible for reporting, shooting, and editing news stories, finding story ideas, developing contacts, and publishing news and community stories regularly. Specifically, this position will focus on entertainment with a focus on pop culture (e.g. art, music, film/tv, etc). Occasionally, multimedia journalists will be asked to lead a training or workshop for staff or high school students.

Video and Audio Editor (Job #7620811): The video and audio editor for The Prairie News, the student digital newspaper at WTAMU, is responsible for leading video and audio news content production. Occasionally, the video and audio editor will be asked to lead a training or workshop for staff or high school students. The video and audio editor works in collaboration with the editor-in-chief, the associate editor-in-chief, the social media engagement coordinator, and the advertising and campus promotion coordinator to improve and ensure the audio and visual branding continuity aspects of TPN.

Newsroom Training Assistant (Job #8062867) The newsroom training assistant, under the supervision of the adviser of The Prairie News and in collaboration with the editor-in-chief, is responsible for supporting the development and promotion of training related to strengthening journalism and media skills among reporters. Occasionally, the newsroom training assistant will lead workshops for high school students. This position is ideal for students interested in journalism education or education in general.
