The Herd’s last stampede

  • The Lady Buffs held their final game Saturday February 29. The game took place at in Canyon Texas at the FUB (First United Bank Center). The Lady Buffs charged onto the court to meet the Cameron Aggies, ready to win.

  • Not only did this mark the final game of the season, but it also marked the last game for our seniors. The seniors of WT Women’s Basketball were reconized before the start of the game. This included Megan Gamble, Lexy HIghtower, Nathalie Linden, and Tiana Parker. In this photo Tiana Parker is accompanied by her loving parents.

  • By half time, the Lady Buffs fought for the lead. At the end of the 2nd Period, West Texas walked off the court with 34 points, Cameron University with 28. Shortly after, the Amarillo Teams of Tomorrow (TOTS) took place on the court. These preschoolers showed off the ball handling skills with the help of their coaches.

  • Both teams step on to the court, each filled with the drive to win. They line up for the jump and the ref tosses it up. Number 24, Klara Dolk, out jumps number 33, Whitney Outon, starting the game off with in offense. The Lady Buffs score the first shot of the game.

  • After both teams return to the court, Lady Buffs continue to stay ahead. At 4 minutes, the WT leads with 46 points, Cameron 31. Number 4 of the Aggies, Maighan Hedge, attempts a drive at the board. With no such luck, Hedge is unable to stop WT’s defense.

  • In the fourth period, WT continued to put pressure on Cameron University. They held a tight defense, not allowing the Aggies to catch up. Lady Buffs managed to stay ahead with 68 points, Aggies 39.

  • The Lady Buffs continued to fight until the last buzzer. WT won their final games, 80-46. The team took their place on the court to celebrate with the School’s national anthem. They closed their season off with 26 wins and 5 losses.

The Lady Buffs held their final game Saturday February 29, 2020. They played against the Cameron University Aggies. The final score was 80-46, WT with the win. The Lady Buffs fought hard from buzzer to buzzer. They started off strong by scoring the first 2 points of the game. However, Cameron stayed strong and kept their score close to WT’s. AT half, the score at half was 34-28 with the Buffs in the lead. After regrouping, the Lady Buffs stepped on the court with a new drive. WT kept pressure on the Lady Aggies, not allowing them to catch up. By the end of the fourth, the Lady Buffs managed to get almost twice as many points as Cameron University. Ending the last games on a win, the Lady Buffs finished their season with a record of 26 wins and 5 losses.
