The recent proposal of tuition increase and cutting of government funding in the UK has helped fuel riots and protests over the past few weeks. Although this started with a peaceful march by students and faculty, more than 50,000 were in attendance producing a violent series of riots and fires.
Currently, the average tuition cost in the UK is around £3,000 (pounds), which is just over $5,000 for domestic students and £10,000 ($17,798) for international students.
James Daniel Dickerson, an international student from London, recently graduated from Texas State University and is currently working back in the UK.
“I wouldn’t trade my US experience and education for anything,” Dickerson said. “I was planning on continuing my education here in the UK within the next few years, but if Parliament goes through with these proposals, I might be better off working and saving money.”
