WT Rallies Past Mustangs

Silver City, NM- With about 2 minutes left it looked bleak for WT as they trailed 30-16. The Buffs then made a near miraculous comeback to force overtime which eventually lead to a 37-30 victory. The win gave WT its 12th straight winning season.

Ethan Brinkley, who took over for Ben Arbuckle late in the second quarter. Finished the game with 208 yards through the air along with 3 TD passes. Arbuckle had a TD pass as well along with 102 pass yards.

The running game however didn’t do much for the Buffs as they only managed to tally up 38 rush yards. Despite that Devon Paye lead rushing with 63 rushing yards off 12 carries. Paye also had 64 yards off 5 catches and a TD catch to begin WT’s rally in the final couple minutes.

Christopher Gilchrist caught the touchdown that would send the game to overtime from 41 yards out. Gilchrist then finished the comeback with a 25-yard TD catch from Brinkley to put the Buffaloes up for good. Gilchrist ended the game with 109 receiving yards from 8 receptions to go with his 2 touchdown catches.

WT finishes the year 6-5 on the year and 5-4 in Lone Star Conference Play.
