Work on Labor Day pays off for women’s team

The #4 ranked Lady Buff soccer team earned their second victory of the season Sept. 6 defeating Tusculum College 3-0.

Kendal Kitchens net her second goal of the year in the 7th minute off a corner kick from Melanie Shannon giving WTAMU a 1-0 lead. Samantha Cameron would double the lead in the 39th minute thanks to an assist from Lindsay McHorse putting the Lady Buffs in control before halftime. In the 79th minute, Cameron net her team-leading third goal of the season, and WT’s third goal of the match to give the Lady Buffs a comfortable victory. Kelly Skehan got her second straight shutout match in goal.

Thanks to her outstanding performance in the opening two games of the season, Cameron was named LSC Offensive Player of the Week Sept. 8.

The Lady Buffs will make their home debut Sept. 10 against #14 Fort Lewis. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
