#22 Lady Buffs sweep Wayland Baptist

The #22 ranked WTAMU Lady Buff volleyball team took a break from conference play Sept. 21 to take on Wayland Baptist at The Box.

The Lady Buffs wasted little time in sweeping the Lady Pioneers 3-0.

In the first set, WT used a 6-1 run with the match tied at 11-11 to put the game away. The Lady Buffs started out the second set with a 12-4 run and would eventually end the set with an 8-1 run.

Wayland fought back in the third set, but they would eventually fall, giving the Lady Buffs their fourth straight victory.

Junior Erika Dupree had a match-high 11 kills and 19 assists on the night. She also compiled a .318 hitting percentage while only having four errors in the match.

Junior transfer Keidra Williams led the team with a .538 hitting percentage while chipping in nine kills. Freshman Ashley Davis also had nine kills, while tallying a .500 hitting percentage.

Sophomore Libero Lauren Beville had a team-high 13 digs against the Pioneers.

Senior Teresa Dunn led the Lady Buffs with 21 assists on the night, while fellow Senior Lauren Thedford had 12 digs for the Lady Buffs.

WT returns to Lone Star Conference play Sept. 23 against Southwestern Oklahoma State, before traveling to take on Central Oklahoma Sept. 25.
