The WT Lady Buff volleyball team continued LSC play Oct. 14 in Durant, Okla. against Southeastern Oklahoma State. The Savage Storm fought hard, but were eventually swept by the Lady Buffs, extending their LSC winning streak to 73 games. The winning streak is the fourth longest in NCAA Division II history over opponents in conference play. After winning the first set 25-16, WT made short work of SOSU in the second set winning 25-10. SOSU fought back in the third set, racing out to a 10-3 lead early on. After cutting the lead to 10-6, SOSU extended the lead to 16-10 before WT made a 7-1 run to tie the game at 17-17. In the end, WT was too much and overpowered the Savage Storm, winning the third set 25-22. WT’s defense was in full force on the night, holding SOSU to a .052 hitting percentage for the match. The Lady Buffs hit .264 as a team. Junior Erika Dupree recorded her sixth triple-double of the season with 12 kills, 14 assists and 11 digs to go along with a .750 hitting percentage. She was also named LSC Setter of the Week on Wednesday for the third time this season. Senior Lauren Thedford chipped in nine kills on the night along with 11 digs. Redshirt Freshman Haleigh Cearley had five kills in the match. Senior Teresa Dunn led the Lady Buffs with 19 assists on the night. The Lady Buffs overall record now stands at 14-7 with a 7-0 record in LSC play. They will stay on the road to take on Oklahoma Baptist Oct. 15th with first serve set for 6 p.m. from Shawnee, Okla.
