West Plains High School quarterback Reid Macon has officially signed with West Texas A&M University (WT) continuing his football career at the college level.
Macon was a four-year varsity player at West Plains High School,According to Press Pass owner Kale Steed on the Locker Room on Fox 14 he established himself as one of the most accomplished quarterbacks. During his tenure, he led the team to three district titles and a state semifinal appearance in the fall of 2025
Macon finished his high school football career with 11,856 passing yards, 120 total touchdowns, and a 70 percent completion rate, ranking Macon near the top of the class. According to “Max Preps”, Macon earned a 92 overall grade and was ranked second in the state among quarterbacks in his class.
Macon said WT stood out to him early in the recruiting process.
“WT just kind of won me over with the coaching staff and one of the best facilities,” Macon said. “A lot of my family can come and watch the home games, and that’s special. It’s great to know we can pass the torch.”
Despite his success in high school, Macon said his mindset is unchanged as he prepares for the next level in his football career.
“I always have a chip on my shoulder regardless of where I’m at or what I’m doing,” Macon said. “I’m going to try to win the job as starting quarterback and do the best I can.”
WT football is coming off a strong season, finishing second in the Lone Star Conference and posting one of its best seasons since 2011, adding Macon can give the Buffs an opportunity to continue to trend upward. .
