Game goes on for over 110 minutes, goalie plays all game

Buffs draw with Texas A&M International.

The WTAMU men’s soccer team was at home Oct. 17, taking on Texas A&M International.

WT came from behind to draw with the Dustdevils 1-1.

TAMI took an early lead in the 5th minute when Yamin Olavarrieta headed home a deflection off a free kick to make the score 1-0 Dustdevils.  This score held till halftime.

TAMI went a man down in the 75th minute when midfielder Adan Villavicencio received a straight red card.

The Buffs took advantage in the 83rd minute when Dominic Furness converted a penalty kick goal to tie the game at 1-1.

The game went to overtime and neither team found the winner as the game ended in a draw.

WT goalkeeper Sebastian Furness made three saves in the match bringing his overall record to 7-5-1 overall.  He played the entire 110:00 minutes of the match.

WT plays Oct. 20 against rival Eastern New Mexico with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
