The WTAMU men’s soccer team was at home Oct. 20 taking on rival Eastern New Mexico.
The Buffs avenged a loss earlier this season to the Greyhounds by defeating them 3-0.
Both teams were equally matched during the first half with the Buffs outshooting the Greyhounds 6-4.
However, things got a little difficult for WT in the 33rd minute when Kaleb Dale was issued a straight red card leaving the Buffs a man down.
The opening goal of the match didn’t come until the 75th minute when Ben Everson broke away from the defense and slotted home the shot giving WT a 1-0 lead.
Just two minutes later, Dominic Furness launched a shot from 15 yards out and found the back of the net making the score 2-0 Buffs.
In the 86th minute WT put the game away when Furness got his second goal of the match converting a penalty kick after ENMU goalkeeper Orlando Rodriguez committed a foul in the box.
Both teams finished with ten men after ENMU defender Luiz Buosi received a red card in the 89th minute.
Sebastian Furness picked up the win in goal for WT making two saves in the match. His overall record stands at 8-5-1 overall and 2-3 in LSC play.
The Buffs stay at home taking on Northeastern State Oct. 22nd with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
