The WTAMU Lady Buff Volleyball team played its LSC Semi-Final match against Tarleton State Nov. 12 at “The Box.”
The Lady Buffs took care of the TexAnns with a sweep, to advance to the LSC Championship for the fifth consecutive year.
TSU came out struggling in the first set, quickly falling into an 11-5 hole. WT pushed that lead to 18-5 and eventually won the set 25-10.
Set number two saw Tarleton take an early 5-3 lead but that only seemed to ignite the Lady Buffs. WT went on a 14-2 run to put away the TexAnns and take the set 25-13.
WT held a 19-11 lead in the third set, but quickly saw it disappear when TSU closed in at 20-18. Things got a little nervy when Tarleton came within one at 22-21. But in the end, the Lady Buffs closed proceedings out and got the sweep to advance in the LSC tournament.
Junior Erika Dupree recorded her 22 double-double of the season with 17 assists and 12 digs. She also hit .400 for the match. Freshman Ashley Davis tallied a team-high 13 kills on the night while hitting .464 for the game.
The Lady Buffs will now prepare for the LSC Championship game against Angelo State on Nov. 13. This will be WT’s fifth straight LSC final and ASU’s first appearance since 1993. First serve is set for 7 p.m. from “The Box.”
