Attebury Honor students at West Texas A&M have a facility they call their own. The Honors suite is a tool available student’s use to aid in their college studies.

Located in the Kilgore Research Center, the Honors space houses amenities not featured anywhere else on campus. The space is equipped with computers and printers, as well as wireless Internet. The program also allows students to check out laptops for temporary use. The suite features a full kitchen, a smart classroom, desks, and couches for lounging and studying.

“Students come here to study, form work groups, read, play games or just rest in between classes,” said Toni Williams, administrative secretary, whose office is located in the Honor’s suite.

Students have card swipe access into the building from 7 a.m. until 11 p.m. Nick Ellis, second year honor student, cherishes the environment the space brings.

“I love being able to come work on homework in a silent place and the chairs are more comfortable than any other place [on campus],” said Ellis.

Students are required to take an honor specific freshman seminar class located in the Honor suite’s smart classroom connecting them with the Honor faculty as well as their peers’ .Omar Lopez finds the program’s support system the most satisfying which all began in the Honor’s suite.

“I enjoy the close personal friends…activities… and classes shared,” Lopez said.
