Every year WT celebrates Homecoming. Groups of friends gather and celebrate the events. This year is different for a certain group. Current Mass Communications students are trying to gather WT alumni to celebrate homecoming. The persistence has been so strong that an actual Facebook page has been created. The page centers on trying to get alumni who had specifically graduated in the Mass Communications department together for homecoming events. The Facebook page has gathered 221 members, with all of them reaching back and communicating with former students.
“We’re trying to get alumni to join us for the homecoming parade and tailgating for the game,” Hope Chasco, junior Mass Communications – Broadcasting major, said. “Also, if they’re free, [we want] to give them a tour of the building and update them on what we’ve accomplished and the projects we are working on.”
Lisa Hellier, a WT alumna who graduated last May, had a chance to reflect on Homecoming.
“It’s really interesting coming back because you’ve already been through what they’re going through and now you see it from a difference perspective,” Hellier said.
The theme for this year is “Come Home”.
Jenna Morris, WT alumna, said she is truly coming home. She said even though she graduated already, WT has always been her home.
With an event list that is packed full, Homecoming 2012 will be reunion central, not just for these Mass Communications graduates, but for anyone coming back home.
