Different clubs and organizations within the College of Agriculture teamed up to create a float for the Homecoming parade.

“We may not have had the most extravagant or expensive float, but we definitely had the most heart in building it,” Marley Sparkman said, a sophomore Agricultural Media and Communications major.

“Till the Cows Come Home” was the theme for this year’s float, to mirror the “Come Home” theme of Homecoming. Several nights were spent out at WT’s Nance Ranch and the WT Ag. Education Center, building all of the components of the float, including a paper mache cow and cowbell and a red barn. Four Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow members dressed up as cows and hay bales while other members of the five clubs dressed up as farmers holding signs for their organization, throwing candy and walking their dogs.

“It went smoother than I thought it would. Everyone jumped in to lend a hand,” said Tanya Rosenthal, a junior Pre-vet major.

Though some of the students are members of more than one agriculture club, the parade was a chance for them to come together as one college. This helped students represent all of their clubs rather than choose which float to accompany. It was also an opportunity for all five clubs to, not only work together, but also to build stronger relationships with each other.

“I think this shows how close knit the Ag. Department is, no matter which clubs are around,” Brady Cowan said, a junior Agricultural Business and Economics major and vice president of Collegiate FFA.
