The West Texas A&M baseball team saved themselves from being swept as they dropped two of three in a three game road series against Texas A&M Kingsville at Nolan Ryan Field. The Buffs dropped the first game of the series on April 4, 10-3.
The series ended with a double header on April 5, where the Javelinas took the first game of the double header, 10-2. The final game turned around for the Buffs as they came out on top, 9-2.
Game One of the series saw the Buffs leading going into the eighth inning, 3-2. The Javelinas would respond with eight runs in the bottom of the eight to take the lead, 10-3. The Buffs made a call to the bullpen as junior Paul Lujan relieved starter Dylan James. Lujan gave up the final three runs of the inning, all of which were unearned.
The Buffs had seven players with hits. For the game, however, the Buffs scored three runs on seven hits with one error, while Texas A&M-Kingsville tallied 10 runs on nine hits with one miscue.
On April 5, the Buffs baseball team split a doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Nolan Ryan Field. The Javelinas won the opener 10-2, while
Designated hitter Dylan Dyson recorded the only two runs for the Buffs with his two RBIs coming off of two hits.
The final game of the series brought out the Buffs baseball team that we are used to seeing. Six Buffaloes recorded RBIs in game two of the double header to steal the sweep from Kingsville, 9-2.
With the nightcap win, West Texas A&M improved to 27-9 and 16-7 in Lone Star Conference play, while Texas A&M-Kingsville finished the series with a 23-13 record and 15-8 in league play.
