From the sidelines of high school football games and West Texas A&M University athletic events, conducting athletic-related interviews as well as being a full-time student, WT senior Corrin Davis has her plate full. Davis has a variety of sports reporting endeavors, including Press Pass Sports, which provides news coverage for “high school, college and professional sports in the Texas Panhandle.” Davis also works with WT athletics for “The Rundown” as well as “The Locker Room” with FOX 14.
Davis has been passionate about sports reporting, even before her time at WT.
“It’s something I’ve always known I wanted to do,” Davis said. “I’m very grateful it was put on my heart at a very young age. I come from a very sport-oriented family, and I just knew I wanted to do something that I loved and that I was passionate about.
When asked how Davis navigates both her work and school life, she joked that she’s “still learning.” She said that she is trying to do a better job balancing the two.
“This year, I’m trying to do a better job of balancing that school, and then that work life, and then also being able to take a breath, and understanding it’s okay to take a break,” Davis said.
Throughout her career, Davis has done many news stories and interviewed a variety of athletes and coaches. But throughout them all, there is one story that has stuck with her to this day.
“It was on a janitor in Panhandle, his name is Smokey, and it was really neat to hear his story and see how dedicated and passionate he is about the students there at Panhandle,” Davis said. “One of those stories that warmed your heart to hear, and it’s another reason why I love my job.”
Davis will continue her sports reporting career this fall covering Texas High School football with Press Pass, as well as covering WT athletics.
