Just one night after setting a new NCAA Division II record for consecutive wins over a conference opponent, the Lady Buffs were back in action taking on St. Edwards.
WT showed no signs of a letdown, defeating the Lady Hilltoppers in four sets.
In set number one, WT held SEU to a .000 hitting percentage en route to a 25-17 win.
SEU rebounded in the second set, hitting .369 behind Pam Osborn’s six kills to tie things up after a 25-19 victory.
Normal service was resumed in set number three. Runs of 5-2 and 4-1 put the Lady Buffs up 21-13. They never looked back and eventually won 25-15.
WT closed proceedings out in the fourth set, although it wasn’t before SEU put up a stern fight. With match point at 24-22, SEU tied things up to make things interesting. At 27-26 SEU committed an error to give the Lady Buffs their seventh straight victory.
Senior Lauren Thedford recorded her 12th double-double of the season with 10 kills and 22 digs on the night. Junior Erika Dupree also recorded her 17th double-double of the season with 22 digs and 30 assists.
Sophomores Stormi Lancaster and Erin Dougherty tallied 11 and 10 kills respectively. Dougherty also hit .568 on the night.
WT’s overall record now stands at 21-8 on the season. They will stay on the road taking on St. Mary’s Oct. 30 with first serve set for 2 p.m.
