The WTAMU Lady Buff volleyball team played its opening round game of the LSC Tournament at home Nov. 11 against Incarnate Word at “The Box.”
The Lady Buffs wasted little time in sweeping the Lady Cardinals, defeating them for the second time this season.
In the first set, UIW jumped out to a 9-1 lead. But, WT quickly regained its composure and tied the set thanks to the serving of junior Erika Dupree. WT eventually went on to win the set 25-21.
The second set was all WT. The Lady Buffs jumped out to an early 9-4 lead and extended it to 17-9. Thanks to kills from Stormi Lancaster and Keidra Williams, WT defeated UIW by a score of 25-13.
With leads of 9-5 and 19-10, the Lady Buffs made quick work in the third set, finishing off the Lady Cardinals 25-17. The Lady Buffs also hit a .378 hitting percentage in the third set which was the best of the match for them.
Dupree recorded her eighth triple-double and 21st double-double of the season with 12 kills, 22 assists, and 12 digs. Senior Lauren Thedford tallied 13 digs and sophomore Libero Lauren Beville added a match-high 15 digs in the match.
UIW hit a combined .108 for the match including hitting .000 in the second set.
The Lady Buffs will now prepare to face Tarleton State in the Semi-finals of the LSC tournament on Nov. 12. First serve is set for 7:30 p.m. at “The Box.”
