On March 29, SAGE (Students Assist in Good Endeavors) will be hosting a dance marathon to raise money to donate to the Children’s Miracle Network. This marathon will last from 2 p.m. – 2 a.m. Everyone is welcome to sign up and the registration is open from now until the day of.
“I’m so proud of our organization for really committing to the Dance Marathon. There’s has been a lot of work done in the past few months and everyone has kept a great attitude about it. I am excited to get this started and hopefully it’ll be the start of an amazing tradition here at WT,” Cecilia Hernandez, vice president of SAGE and a senior, social work major, said.
All of the money raised will go directly to Children’s Miracle Network. Several families that are part of Children’s Miracle Network will be present through the afternoon portion of the dance marathon so that the contestants can see whom their donations are helping. The competitors are asked to raise donations and any organization is welcome to donate. SAGE members are looking to the community for donations too.
“I really hope that WT gets engaged in it,” Shandi Leavitt, senior Ag Communication and Media major, said. “I really hope we can help these kids out.”
So far 93 people are signed up for the dance marathon that will be held in the JBK Legacy Hall. For all competitors there will be a free Chick-Fil-A dinner and midnight pancakes. SAGE is looking for more competitors and is hoping to raise $10 to donate.
“ I hope that this will be one of those events that other organizations can really get excited about in the future,” Hernandez said. “I want people to look forward to this and know that they can make a difference. The best events on campus are the ones that people put on their calendars from the beginning of the school year. It will be amazing to see what a small University can accomplish in a matter of years, through this event.”
